Munich. BMW M and BMW Motorrad prepare for a very special celebration for the centenary of the Nürburgring. Under the name “100 Years of the Nürburgring”, both divisions will present a joint issue consists of six cars, BMW M and three motorcycles BMW Motorrad M, all with a unique configuration inspired by one of the circuits most emblematic places of the world.

The edition commemorates the 100 years of the Nürburgring, which was opened on 18 June 1927, and highlights the close relationship that BMW remains with the German track, especially with the demanding Nordschleife.

With the motto, “Born in the circuit. Made for the streets”, BMW seeks to represent the transfer of knowledge and technology developed in competition to its production cars.

Nine models to celebrate the 100 years of Nürburgring

The edition BMW M 100 Years of Nürburgring will be built for six-car high-performance:

• BMW M2
• BMW M3 Sedan
• BMW M3 Touring
• BMW M4 Coupe
• BMW M5 Sedan
• BMW M5 Touring

They added three motorcycles from BMW Motorrad:

• BMW M 1000 RR
• BMW M 1000 R
• BMW M 1000 XR

In the case of motorcycles, the exclusivity will be particularly high: each of the three models will be limited to only 100 units for the entire world.

The historic green Nürburgring identifies the edition

One of the main visual elements of the collection will be the historic green Nürburgring, developed specifically for this commemorative edition.

The nine models will be incorporated in addition to different references to the circuit, including the logo “100 Years”, the inscription “the Nürburgring since 1927”, and graphical representations of the characteristic silhouette of the German track.

Car BMW M, the graphics commemorative will be present in different areas of the body, such as the front doors, the C-pillar and the side panels in the rear, depending on the model.

There will also be bands specific to the ceiling. In the BMW M2, M3 Sedan, M4 Coupe and M5 Sedan will travel the ceiling M Carbon, while the BMW M3 Touring M5 Touring will use an equivalent setting on your steel roof.

The tones of light grey, green, Nürburgring and black make up the identity of colour of the edition, accompanied by green accents in components such as the wheels and the characteristic grill double of BMW.

As an alternative to the green Nürburgring, the car can also be configured in sapphire black metallic.

An interior inspired by the “Green Hell”

The connection with the Nürburgring will continue in the cabin.

The BMW M in this edition used indoor predominantly black accompanied by contrast stitching in green and white.

The models equipped with the six-cylinder engines in line to be incorporated in addition to a steering wheel M coated in Alcantara with stitching-specific, and an indicator center at 12 o'clock. The BMW M5 will receive a steering wheel M adapted to the same visual concept.

In this way, BMW is seeking the identity of the edition is not limited to the body, but that's part of the whole experience of the vehicle.

BMW M Ignite: technology competition for the road

Beyond the design, the centennial edition also incorporates new techniques.

One of the most important is the BMW M Ignite, a system power-up with pre-chamber, patented by BMW that is used in the engines of six-cylinder in-line BMW M2, BMW M3 and BMW M4.

The technology is designed to improve engine efficiency, especially when working under high loads. According to BMW, it allows to reduce the fuel consumption of a circuit and contributes to the fulfillment of the emission standard Euro 7 without sacrificing performance.

BMW M Ignite represents precisely one of the central concepts of this edition: transfer technologies developed for extreme conditions to vehicles approved for use on the road.

BMW M2 “100 Years of the Nürburgring”

The BMW M2 will be the model more compact collection. Its engine six-cylinder in-line combined with elements such as ceiling M Carbon, seating M Carbon type-bucket, paint exclusive and graphs specific to the edition.

Your configuration looks to reinforce the sporty character of the M2 and its relationship with the Nordschleife.

BMW M3 Sedan and BMW M3 Touring

The BMW M3 Sedan will combine the versatility of a car for daily use with a setting directly inspired by the Nürburgring.

Among its distinctive features are the graphics commemorative, roof M, Carbon and green accents on the wheels, in addition to the technology BMW M Ignite.

The BMW M3 Touring, for its part, will move the same philosophy of high-performance to a body with a greater capacity and versatility, while maintaining the visual identity of the special edition.

BMW M4 Coupe

The BMW M4 Coupe will be one of the more representatives sporting the collection thanks to its body with two doors.

Your configuration will include roof M Carbon, stripes, BMW M and specific details of “100 Years of Nürburgring, in addition to BMW M Ignite in his six-cylinder engine.

BMW M5 Sedan and BMW M5 Touring

The two BMW M5 will represent the proposed electrified edition.

Both the BMW M5 Sedan like the BMW M5 Touring will resort to the propulsion system M HYBRID, combining high performance with the ability to maintain a high level of practicality for everyday use.

The M5 Sedan will incorporate ceiling M Carbon, wheels Styling 951 M with green accents and graphics related to the Nordschleife.

The M5 Touring will offer an own interpretation of the concept, with the steel roof decorated by the stripes exclusive to this edition.

BMW Motorrad celebrates the Nürburgring with three models M

The celebration will not be limited to cars.

BMW Motorrad will participate with the BMW M 1000 RR, BMW M 1000 R and BMW M 1000 XR, each one produced in a series limited to 100 copies worldwide.

The three motorcycles will receive a specific configuration that will include the package, M Track, green paint Nürburgring, graphics commemorative wheels and carbon fiber with green accents.

Also incorporated swingarm and rear sub-frame in black, in addition to a seat with a look of Alcantara, and the number “100” embroidery.

Details exclusive to the BMW Motorrad M

One of the most striking elements will be in the fuel tank, decorated with the silhouette of the Nürburgring.

The lid of the air filter box you will also receive a special design of anniversary accompanied by the inscription “one of 100”, which will be reminded of the limited production of each motorcycle.

The equipment will be completed, depending on the model, with accessories as a kit covered M, a carpet exclusive with the logo of the centennial of the Nürburgring and a ridge to the rear wheel.

The BMW M 1000 RR will be the proposal with a greater orientation to the circuit, with special attention to the aerodynamics, lightweight construction and accuracy.

The BMW M 1000 R move benefits of a superbike with the concept hyper naked, while the BMW M 1000 XR will combine high performance and stability at high speed with an ergonomics is also meant to travel long distances.

The Nürburgring, a second home to BMW M

The relationship between BMW and the Nürburgring goes far beyond the competition.

The Nordschleife, with approximately 20.8 miles in length and 73 bends, it is considered to be one of the most demanding race tracks in the world. Its major elevation changes and variations in the surface allow you to submit the vehicle to extreme conditions.

BMW uses this scenario to evaluate components and systems fundamental as the chassis, transmission, aerodynamics, braking and thermal management.

“For us, the Nürburgring is much more than a racing circuit: it is a second home for the BMW brand M. All of our production vehicles are subjected to rigorous testing on the Nordschleife,” said Frank van Meel, ceo of BMW M GmbH.

BMW Motorrad has also maintained a historic relationship with the circuit that dates back to their first years of operation.

“The Nordschleife is part of the DNA of our models M from decades ago. With our special models for the centenary of the Nürburgring, we pay tribute to a place that has made history in the auto industry,” noted Markus Flasch, CEO of BMW Motorrad.

When will be available the edition 100 Years of the Nürburgring?

BMW is planning to open orders for the BMW M3 Sedan, BMW M3 Touring, BMW M4 Coupe, BMW M5 Sedan and BMW M5 Touring from September 2026.

The BMW M2 will be incorporated later, with the opening of orders scheduled for January 2027.

The company will announce separately the date of commencement of orders and the availability of the special editions of the BMW M 1000 RR, BMW M 1000 R and BMW M 1000 XR.

100 years of the “Green Hell”

Nürburgring will reach its centennial anniversary in 2027 become not only one of the scenarios most recognized racing, but also in a development laboratory for vehicles with high performance.

With “100 Years of the Nürburgring”, BMW M and BMW Motorrad celebrate that history by nine models that combine technology, design and direct references to the circuit.

The collection works well as an homage to the so-called “Green Hell”, but also as a demonstration of a philosophy that BMW M has maintained for decades: using the requirement of the circuit to develop vehicles capable of moving a part of that experience on the road.
