Nürburgring. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO at the Nürburgring once again proved its competitiveness in the GT World Challenge Europe powered by AWS. The endurance race held at the circuit German left a balance especially good for BMW M Motorsport, with a second all-time for the Team WRT, the title in advance of the Silver Cup of Endurance and a new leader in the Gold Cup thanks to ROWE Racing.

After three hours of competition and a race marked by several periods of the safety car, the BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 32 of the Team WRT managed to climb to the second step of the podium overall. Kelvin van der Linde, Charles Weerts and Jordan Pepper staged a comeback that allowed the team to achieve one of its most important results of the season in the Endurance Cup.

The result also had a special meaning to the program of BMW M Motorsport, as it allowed the Team WRT to get his first podium of the season in the Cup of Endurance.

Team WRT back to second place at the Nürburgring

The day didn't start out the simplest way for the BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 32. The car he started from the eighth position, so that the initial objective was to regain ground in a race where strategy, the traffic and the different periods of safety car could modify constantly competitive bidding.

Jordan Pepper, Charles Weerts and Kelvin van der Linde were moving positions during the three-hour race. The rhythm of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO allowed the team to stay in the fight for the first positions to finally get the second place in the general classification.

Beyond the result, the podium represents an injection of confidence to a team that had struggled during the first few endurance races of the season.

Van der Linde emphasized precisely the ability of the team to find a configuration competitive for a test of long duration. The pilot of south africa pointed out that the BMW managed to behave in a manner consistent over the full distance of the Nürburgring, something that had not always happened to the team in the GT World Challenge Europe.

For Charles Weerts, the result also ended a wait of important. The belgian driver was held to have finally achieved a podium in a difficult season into the Cup of Endurance and highlighted the work done both by their peers as by the entire team.

The result of the number 32 was not the only one in the Top 10. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 46 of the Team WRT, led by Max Hesse, Valentino Rossi and Dan Harper, finished in the ninth position overall after a career marked by various changes of pace and strategic situations.

BMW M4 GT3 EVO 30 secures the title of the Silver Cup

One of the most important moments of the weekend came in the Cup of Silver Resistance. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO # 30 of Team WRT, piloted by Matisse Lismont, Ignacio Montenegro and Amaury Cordeel, came to the Nürburgring with a clear opportunity to secure the championship.

The team strengthened their aspirations from classification to get the pole position in its category. Later, the trio completed a solid career and without significant errors for finishing second in the Silver Cup.

That result was enough for Lismont, Montenegro and Cordeel ensure mathematically the title of the Endurance Cup in your category before the last quote.

The performance is especially remarkable for the consistency shown by the young group of riders during the season. The own Lismont described the weekend as a very positive and highlighted that the team had managed to dominate a good part of the session prior to the race.

The title represents a reward for Team WRT, which has been found in the BMW M4 GT3 EVO a competitive tool to fight for the top places within the different categories of the championship.

Andreas Roos, head of BMW M Motorsport, also put special emphasis on this result and congratulated the team for having won the championship in advance.

ROWE Racing takes the lead in the Gold Cup

While Team WRT celebrated the championship of the Silver Cup, ROWE Racing got another important result for BMW M Motorsport: the leadership of the classification of the Gold Cup Endurance.

The BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 998, piloted by Jens Klingmann, Tim Tramnitz and Ugo de Wilde, who crossed the line in fourth position in its category. Although the outcome was far from being the best of the season for the team, the points obtained were sufficient to place them on the first position of the championship of resistance.

The context makes it even more relevant to the result. The trio had come to the Nürburgring after a win category in the 24 Hours of Spa-Francorchamps, so the expectations were high.

However, the end of week German presented a number of obstacles for ROWE Racing. A tune that didn't work out as planned limited the performance of the car, while different strategic situations complicated even more the race.

Despite this, Klingmann, Tramnitz and Wilde managed to stay within the area of points and take advantage of the situation of the championship to get out of the Nürburgring as the leaders of the Gold Cup Endurance.

For Tramnitz, compete again in Germany also had a special component for doing it in front of local fans. Although he regretted not having gotten the podium of category, the pilot acknowledged that the position obtained keeps the team in a favorable situation, face to the definition of the championship.

A weekend with contrasting outcomes for BMW M Motorsport

Not all the BMW M4 GT3 EVO had the same good fortune. The # 98 ROWE Racing, led by Raffaele Marciello, Augusto Farfus and Jake Dennis, had a difficult weekend since the classification.

During the race, a yellow flag on the track greatly affected their position and forcing the team to change its strategy. The BMW finally finished in 38th place in the overall classification.

Farfus explained that the car did not have the pace needed during the week-end and that the team decided to go for an aggressive strategy. During a part of the career decision seemed to be working, but the absence of any other period of neutralization caused the BMW to a stop near the end, losing numerous positions.

The result was especially frustrating for the team after the victory at the Nürburgring the previous year.

There was also representation from other equipment BMW M Motorsport. The BMW M4 GT3 EVO # 42 of Oman Racing by Century Motorsport finished fifth in the Cup of Bronze, while the two cars Paradine Competition finished seventh in their respective categories: the number 992 in Silver Cup and the number 991 in the Bronze Cup.

Portimão will be decisive for BMW M Motorsport

With the results obtained at the Nürburgring, BMW M Motorsport comes to the final part of the season with several fronts.

The title of the Silver Cup of the Resistance is now insured for the Team WRT thanks to the BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 30. At the same time, ROWE Racing comes to the last race of the Endurance Cup as the leader of the Gold Cup, although you will still have to defend that position.

The next appointment will be especially important for the BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 998 and their pilots. The endurance season will conclude in Portimão, Portugal, where you will define the championship.

For Team WRT, the second place achieved at the Nürburgring also represents a positive signal of a face at the close of the campaign. Kelvin van der Linde, Charles Weerts and Jordan Pepper showed that the BMW M4 GT3 EVO can regain ground when it finds a configuration suitable for the demands of an endurance race.

In addition, the team maintains other objectives in the game. Pepper said he hopes that the result of the Nürburgring mark a turning point for the number 32, and to maintain this momentum throughout the rest of the season, especially while Weerts and van der Linde will continue to fight for the title of the Sprint Cup.
