GT World Challenge Europe: Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro conquer three titles with BMW

Zandvoort. The GT World Challenge Europe lived in a weekend highlighted in Zandvoort, the Netherlands, where Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro secured a historic treble of titles in the Silver Cup at the wheel of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO # 30 of Team WRT.

After conquering previously the Endurance Cup, the team was able to secure the titles in the Sprint Cup and of the general classification, Silver Cup, when there are still two races before the end of the season. The result confirms the strength displayed by the team during a campaign in which the BMW M4 GT3 EVO has remained as the protagonist in the different categories of the championship.

GT World Challenge Europe: a perfect weekend for Lismont and Montenegro

The penultimate date of the Sprint Cup at Zandvoort left contrasting outcomes for the teams of BMW M Motorsport. While Lismont and Montenegro had a weekend of outstanding in the Silver Cup, the representatives of the Team WRT in the Pro Cup, faced major difficulties.

The BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 30 and got the victory in the first race and finished second in the second competition. With these results, Lismont and Montenegro assured mathematically the titles in the Sprint Cup and of the general classification, Silver Cup, in addition to the Endurance Cup, which had already been conquered.

For Ignacio Montenegro, the result was a particularly significant in his first season within the GT World Challenge Europe. The pilot argentine highlighted the work done by the whole team and the importance of achieving the objectives set at the start of the campaign.

Matisse Lismont also celebrated the result obtained in Zandvoort and acknowledged the work of the mechanics and engineers of the Team WRT, in addition to the performance of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO for the two races.

Results of BMW in the Pro Cup

In the Pro Cup, the weekend was more complicated for the three teams of Team WRT. Valentino Rossi and Max Hesse, at the wheel of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 46, ended duodécimos in the first race and got the fourth position in the second, a result that represented the best position of the team in this category during the weekend.

For its part, Kelvin van der Linde and Charles Weerts had to leave the first race and finished in fifteenth place during the second competition. Jordan Pepper and Amaury Cordeel could not complete any of the two races due to incidents on the track.

In spite of the individual results, the Team WRT managed to be placed at the front of the team standings. In the classification of the drivers of the Sprint Cup, however, the results of Zandvoort resulted in changes before the two races late in the season, which will be held in Barcelona.

BMW M4 GT3 EVO also comes up to the podium at the Cup Bronze

The BMW M4 GT3 EVO also had a presence on the podium of the Cup Bronze. Augusto Farfus and Darren Leung, representatives of Paradine Competition with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 991, finished second in the first race of Zandvoort and occupied the fifth position in the second.

The result allowed the team to add another podium finish for BMW M Motorsport during the weekend and to maintain a competitive presence in the different categories of GT World Challenge Europe.

In the Gold Cup, David Pittard and Jop Rappange finished seventh and eighth with the BMW M4 GT3 EVO number 77 KPX Motorsport.

Barcelona will be the venue of the closing of the season

With the titles of the Silver Cup already secured, Matisse Lismont and Ignacio Montenegro come to the last part of the season with three championships conquered. For Team WRT, the goal now will be to maintain the lead of the general classification for the teams, and close the campaign with a new outstanding results.

The two races remaining in the GT World Challenge Europe will take place in Barcelona, where BMW M Motorsport will seek to conclude a season marked by the performance of the BMW M4 GT3 EVO in the different categories of the championship.
