BMW F 450 RR: DNA supersport comes to a new category

Richmond Hill, ON. BMW Motorrad expands its family of sport-bikes with the new BMW F 450 RR, a model that combines the design and technology of the range RR with a flat-twin engine of 48 CV, a weight-reduced and settings developed for those who enjoy both on road and track.

The sports family of BMW Motorrad receive a new member. The BMW F 450 RR represents a different proposal within the range of the German manufacturer, the moving part of the philosophy of the S 1000 RR to a motorcycle more lightweight, compact, and accessible.

Officially presented on October 15, 2026, the new supersport seeks to provide a driving experience precise and dynamic without resorting to the high figures of power that characterize their older sisters.

With 48 BHP of power and just 177 kg weight in running order, the F 450 RR bet by a combination of agility, response from the engine and electronic technology which converts it into a new gateway to the universe sporty BMW Motorrad.

A design inspired by the BMW S 1000 RR

The visual connection with the family RR is evident from the first glance. The new BMW F 450 RR adopts a silhouette sport, characterized by a low front, a back section raised and aerodynamic lines that convey movement even when the motorcycle stops.

The fairing incorporates spoilers, side panels are asymmetrical and the characteristics gills on the right side. In addition to this, a front split with LED lighting and a signature light directly inspired by the current generation of the BMW S 1000 RR.

However, the F 450 RR is not limited to reproduce the appearance of a superbike of increased capacity. BMW developed a geometry and a configuration specific to get a motorcycle balanced, able to respond with precision winding roads and during sessions of the driving circuit.

Twin engine of 420 cc and 48 HP

The heart of the new BMW F 450 RR is a parallel twin engine with 420 cc, originally developed for the BMW F 450 GS, but adapted to the demands of a motorcycle supersport.

This propellant delivery to 48 HP (35 kW) at 8,750 rpm and a maximum torque of 43 Nm at 6,750 rpm. One of its most interesting features is the availability of up to 80% of the torque from 3,000 rpm, which promotes a consistent response from low revs.

The crankshaft uses a gap of 135 degrees between its crankpins, a configuration that gives a particular character to the power delivery and the sound of the engine. A shaft balancing helps to reduce the vibrations and improve the smoothness of operation.

BMW also made extensive use of lightweight materials, such as magnesium in the covers the clutch and the transmission, to optimize the weight of the assembly.

In terms of efficiency, the manufacturer declares consumption of 3.8 litres per 100 kilometres. Combined with a deposit of 14 litres, allows you to reach a range of over 350 miles.

Easy Ride Clutch: technology for driving more intuitive

One of the major technological developments of the BMW F 450 RR is the availability of the system Easy Ride Clutch (CKD), a clutch that automatically works in relationship with the regime of the engine.

In combination with the assistant of change Shift Assistant Pro, allows you to make gear changes without the need to manually operate the clutch lever while driving as usual.

The system keeps the engine brake during the deceleration and undock automatically clutch when the engine reaches idle speed, avoiding stalling at a stop.

The handle conventional remains available for those riders who prefer to use it.

The Easy Ride Clutch is part of the optional package Innovation and seeks to facilitate the conduct of both in urban transportation as a highway curves rides and sports.

Chassis and suspension developed for a supersport

Although it shares part of its technical architecture with the BMW F 450 GS, the new F 450 RR has a specific setting for sporty driving.

Its structure tubular steel uses the engine as a load bearing element, while the distance between the compact axis and the geometry of the set promotes a quick response and accurate.

The front suspension is formed by a fork inverted KYB 43 mm, while the back features a tilting dual arm of cast aluminum and a shock-absorbing central KYB.

In the versions equipped with sport-tuned suspension, the fork allows you to adjust the compression damping and rebound.

The braking system combines a front disc 310 mm with clamp monobloc Brembo four-piston calipers and a rear disc 240 mm with clamp ByBre.

Aluminium wheels 17 inch used tires 110/70 front and 150/60 rear, dimensions have been selected to offer a sports behavior without compromising agility.

Electronics and driving modes

The new BMW F 450 RR incorporates a set of attendances electronic that were previously associated primarily with motorcycles of the upper segments.

Of series, it has three driving modes: Rain, Road and Race, which allow you to tailor the response of the motorcycle to different conditions.

It also includes ABS Pro, which optimizes braking during tilt, dynamic traction control (DTC), dynamic control of braking (DBC) and torque control of engine drag (MSR).

For those looking for an experience more specialized, the package is Riding Modes Pro adds the Race mode Pro, with additional possibilities of configuration.

Another detail-oriented circuit is the possibility of reversing the pattern of changes, a common feature in motorcycle racing.

Sportiness without sacrificing everyday use

In spite of its orientation, supersport, BMW Motorrad has sought to maintain a level of comfort appropriate for daily commute.

The driving position using semimanillares subject to the handlebar, and ergonomics, which helps in the control during sporty driving.

The standard height of the seat is 790 mm, although it can be modified using original accessories to achieve 775 mm with the low seat or 810 mm with the sports seat high.

The equipment includes LED lighting, heated grips, USB-C and a TFT screen of 6.5 inches with connectivity features, navigation and information display of driving.

The athletic displays additional, you can check such parameters as the angle of inclination, the intervention of the traction control and the lap times, depending on the equipment installed.

BMW F 450 RR M Sport: a version with a character of competition

The range includes four configurations: Base, Sport, M Sport and M Sport package Innovation.

Version M Sport stands out for its white finish Snaefell, graphics M Motorsport, sport-tuned suspension and electronic functions, additional.

For its part, the package Innovation incorporates the system Easy Ride Clutch, expanding the possibilities of driving without manual intervention, constant over the clutch.

BMW Motorrad has confirmed that production for the canadian market will begin in February of 2027, where it is exclusively marketed version M Sport. For the moment, the statement did not specify pricing or availability dates for Mexico.

A new way to enter into the universe BMW RR

With the F-450 RR, BMW Motorrad expands the scope of its sports family to a segment in which lightness, ease of handling and accuracy are as important as power.

Your engine 48 HP, the weight content and advanced electronics make up a proposal designed both for those seeking to start on the driving supersport as for experienced drivers who value a motorcycle compact and agile.

The new BMW F 450 RR shows that the sports experience is not solely dependent on the displacement. You can also be constructed from the balance between chassis, engine, ergonomics and technology.

An interpretation more accessible DNA RR that promises to move part of the sensations of their older sisters to a new generation of motorcyclists.
