In 1981, BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council was founded.
The BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council is an independent entity of the BMW Group, having its own statute and is headquartered in the BMW Classic Building in Munich, Germany, remaining today as it was when it was originally conceived and founded in 1981 by Helmut Werner Bönsch and Dr. . Horst Avenarius.
The BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council serves as an interface between the BMW Group (BMW Classic), BMW Club Federations, BMW Clubs / Chapters, Members / Partners / Associates of Official Clubs who own BMW Cars or Motorcycles and the Agencies / Importers / BMW subsidiaries around the world, maintaining a productive and friendly working relationship.

In the year 2011 BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council celebrated 30 years of foundation, always promoting in September / October its annual meeting of Official BMW Clubs Federations in Europe or in another country of one of its 20 delegates.
Approximately 40 representatives of the BMW Club Federations and the BMW Classic meet at the annual meetings of the BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council. They form a powerful voice and represent an important link between the BMW Group's relationships with BMW Club Federations, BMW Clubs and their Chapters, BMW Enthusiast Associates and BMW Agencies / Importers / Subsidiaries.

The statutes, guidelines and directives of the BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council regulate and supervise the operation of the more than 800 Official BMW Clubs around the world that bring together more than 230,000 enthusiastic members.
BMW Club & Community Management, abbreviated BCCM, is the administrative office of BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council in Munich, Germany, and organizes its Annual Assembly every year. BCCM is part of the BMW Group Classic and is located in the old and historic corridors of the BMW plant in Munich, just a few steps from the four-cylinder building.
BCCM also assists BMW Club Federations in verifying the logos of new Official Clubs on candidates for certification, as well as assisting and organizing visits by BMW enthusiasts Active Members of Official Clubs (Valid Membership Card Holders) to Munich, Germany.
In 2016, when BMW celebrated its centenary, BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council celebrated 35 years of foundation.
In the year 2021, BCIC - BMW Clubs International Council will commemorate 40 years of foundation.
